2018 girls basketball quarterfinal/semifinal/finals pairings

Just one game separates 32 teams from reaching this year's finals destination, Calvin College's Van Noord Arena. We're down to the final eight teams in each class, and there aren't a ton of surprises with who made it this far.

In Class A, the final eight teams include the No. 2 (East Lansing), No. 3 (Saginaw Heritage), No. 8 (Muskegon) and No. 10 (Wayne Memorial) teams from the final Associated Press rankings made it this far, while No. 6 Coldwater, No. 7 Flint Carman Ainsworth and No. 9 Macomb Dakota all lost in the regional round. And only Grosse Pointe North (19-5) and Detroit Martin Luther King (17-3) have fewer than 20 wins. 

In Class B, the top five teams from the last regular-season AP rankings — Kingsley, Detroit Country Day, Jackson Northwest, Hamilton and Freeland — are all still alive, along with honorable mention Muskegon Oakridge. 

In Class C, the top three teams — unbeatens Pewamo-Westphalia and Schoolcraft, and once-beaten St. Ignace LaSalle — and No. 10 Maple City Glen Lake are still alive from the final AP top 10, along with arguably the two most talented and experienced teams in the division, No. 7 Detroit Edison PSA and honorable mention Ypsilanti Arbor Prep.

Class D has five of the top six in the last AP poll — No. 1 Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart, No. 3 Adrian Lenawee Christian, No. 4 Gaylord St. Mary, No. 5 Kingston and No. 6 Chassell — alive, along with No. 8 Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes, and honorable mention Athens.
