PHOTOS: Detroit Edison PSA beats Ypsi Arbor Prep to repeat in Class C

GRAND RAPIDS >> The Class C championship game at Calvin College's Van Noord Arena pitted last year's Class C champion, Detroit Edison Public School Academy, vs. Ypsilanti Arbor Prep, the 2016 Class C champion, and last year's Class B runner-up.
The only loss of the regular season for DEPSA came at the hands of Arbor Prep.
The Pioneers (24-1) avenged that loss and wrapped up a repeat as Class C champs, steadily pulling away from the Gators (21-6) after a slow start to win, 51-34.
DEPSA had a 30-8 advantage in points in the paint, led by 15 points from Rickea Jackson. Gabrielle Elliott led all scorers with 20 points, while freshman Damiya Hagemann added nine.
Miss Basketball finalist Lasha Petree had 19 points, six rebounds and five blocks for Arbor Prep before fouling out with half the fourth quarter left to go. Nobody else had more than four points for the Gators.
