PHOTOS: Country Day rolls past Kingsley in Class B semifinal



GRAND RAPIDS >> No. 2-ranked Birmingham Detroit Country Day knocked off previously-unbeaten No. 1 Kingsley, 70-54, pulling away in the second half of Friday's Class B semifinals at Calvin College's Van Noord Arena.
The Yellowjackets (22-4) will get a chance to play for their third state title in four years when they face Jackson Northwest in Saturday's Class B championship at 6:15 p.m.
Junior Maddie Novak had one of her best games since transferring to Country Day last year, going 5-for-8 from the floor and 8-for-8 from the free-throw line, finishing with 20 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Kaela Webb (15 points), Maxine Moore (11 points) and Adrian Fulks (10 points) all finished in double figures scoring for Country Day, which blew open a two-point game with a 29-16 second quarter, then pulled away in the third quarter to lead by as many as 29 points.
Jalynn Brumfield led Kingsley with 14 points, despite playing just 12 minutes because of foul trouble, while Rebekah Crosby had 12 and Brittany Bowman 11.
